PSA: Lock Your Car Doors
Today on the radio people were calling in about their weird phobias, such as the cotton that is used in medicine bottles and having to pull it out, or a fear of odd numbers. Then it just progressed to the things people do to avoid their fears. One woman won’t ride in an elevator because she has a fear of the elevator getting flooded and she’ll drown, not that the elevator cable will snap and she’ll fall to her death, but she’ll drown. In an elevator. So, she takes the stairs. Always.
I don’t have any irrational fears, but I do have a habit. I like to make sure the doors are locked when I’m in a car. As soon as I’ve gotten behind the wheel, or if my husband is driving, then as soon as we’ve pulled out of the garage, I like to hit the button that locks all the doors. Sometimes I’ll forget and remember later, but I don’t think I’ve ever arrived at a destination with my doors unlocked. Many of you may be thinking, well that’s just being safe. I know safety experts tell women to lock their doors as soon as they enter their vehicle. And I know some people lock their doors to keep roaming hobos at intersections from jumping in the car. I lock the doors for a much more nefarious reason. I want to keep out zombies.
Zombies are much more terrifying than potential carjackers or abductors. I mean if I get mugged in my car, at least there’s a chance I might live. If a zombie gets in, then I know I’m dead. A zombie doesn’t want money or my car. It wants to eat my brains. I think that’s a pretty good reason to make sure my car doors are locked. I’ve heard people say that zombies can’t open doors anyway so it doesn’t matter if they’re locked and to them I say, “How do you know? Do you really want to take that chance?”
President Bush isn’t taking any chances. He’s included $50 billion in the budget to protect American’s from zombies.
First!
After many months of staring at my shell of a website and telling myself that drupal is too hard, I finally decided to take the time to make this a real site. I've got some links, a color scheme, and an RSS feed. My husband was using the site as his personal library for videos in an effort to goad me into doing something about my empty site. I think I've let it gone on long enough. So, here is my first blog post. Let's see who makes the first comment.
