I *heart* the Internet

The internet is my hero. I have been having car trouble lately, which has finally been resolved thanks to the awesome people at my local Brakes Plus. So, today while I was driving in to work my airbag light sensor started blinking. I thought, "Fuck! now what?"

I know the computer was reset or the battery had been disconnected because I had to reset the time and radio preset stations. So, that may have triggered the airbag sensor or maybe the recent bad weather. Or like all the other things that have been going wrong with my car, it's a sign that it's old and I need to buy a new car.

The point is that I don't know, but I knew I didn't want to spend anymore money fixing my car's broke ass. So, after a quick search on the internet I found a way to reset my car's computer and turn off the sensor light on this forum. My Nissan dealership would have charged me at least a hundred dollars to do this same thing.

Thank you, Internet. My husband and I appreciate you! Especially when you help him fix things around the house so we don't have to call a repairman.

Does anyone remember The State?

I used to love that TV show. I couldn't believe it got canceled so soon. Anyway, I found a bunch of old clips on YouTube, cause you can find anything on that site from old 80s cartoons to b-movie clips. And then I came across this from Michael Ian Black's blog. It's a State script that was never filmed. I would have loved to seen this one. I miss The State.

What I want for xmas.

Thanksgiving is approaching which means this is the time people start asking each other what he or she wants for xmas. This is what I want for xmas. Even more than a blotter.

Pork and Beans

This morning we had cinnamon rolls and my husband commented that I had left him the center roll, which everyone knows is the best one cause it doesn't have a crust. I felt guilty because I usually take the center one and this time I had left it because I had undercooked the rolls a little and the center one had deflated a little. So, I told him the truth because I wanted to be honest and we're all about being open with each other. So, then Paul responded, "Well, since we're being honest I thought you should know I always put the retarded roll in the center."

Anyway, have you seen the new Weezer video, Pork and Beans? U can haz cheezburger if you get all the net references.

Aural Drama

I found a new way to entertain myself on my long commute home from work. Audio books. At first I wasn’t sure about this medium, but now I love it. I have very little free time and don’t get to read as much as I would like. One of the things I enjoyed about taking the express bus into downtown, when I used to ride the bus in another lifetime, was the opportunity it gave me to catch up on my reading.

Now, I can read in the car and it isn’t just anyone reading the book. It’s usually some famous actor or professionally trained voice actor, so it’s like aural drama. I recently finished We Need to Talk About Kevin. I’ve never read any of Lionel Shriver’s books but now I plan on reading more of her. I loved this book and it was perfectly suited for audio because the book is a series of letters written by the main character to her husband.

The only problem is my library doesn’t have any other audio books by Shriver, which is the only drawback of audio books. They’re not all at my library. I’m a taxpayer, so I like to take advantage of my public library, which has a great selection. I think more people should take advantage of their city’s public services. Paul and I like to use the library as a free blockbuster as well with all the movies you can get there. It was a sad day when the library put a limit of three on the number of items we could put on hold online.

Anyway, what is this blog about? I’m just saying We Need to Talk About Kevin is a great book. And go visit your public library. And public schools are awesome.
